Hello, and welcome! My name is Donna and this is my blog about homeschooling, which is one of my passions in life. I believe that my love for home education is rooted in my own experiences growing up in the public school system. Even though I was enrolled in one of the best districts in America, I still felt that my education left me somewhat incompetent, lacking in basic life skills and common knowledge. Further, my faith was regularly contradicted in this environment, which made it difficult develop a spiritual foundation, let alone exemplify Christianity. It took me well into my adult years to gain knowledge that could have been conveyed to me throughout my school years with better guidance.
These experiences have inspired me to give my children a different kind of education, and I am blessed to be in a position to do so. An education where they are not pressured to fit into a mold that wasn’t necessarily designed with them in mind. An experience where they are not expected to learn or develop at the pace of the masses. Where they are given the opportunity to grow a love of learning, and the tools to become lifelong students who study their passions.
My blog is meant to support and inspire anyone who would like to take a leap of faith and provide an enriched education for a child – whether it be full time, part time, or even just as an after school supplement meant to enhance and support their traditional schooling experience. Not everyone is in a position to homeschool, and I do not believe that it is the best educational choice for every family, but I do believe that it is a valid and respectable option for many, and that anyone who chooses to enhance a child’s learning experience in any way will be greatly benefiting them and bettering their future.
